It makes me sick to hear another health nut whine about second-hand smoke in bars. You're not going to get lung cancer from a little smoke now and then.

Hmm... and we're supposed to stake our lives on this? On the word of... an addict?

Oh god this topic again?

If you know someone is shooting heroin at their house, do you go there?

So why do you go in a bar that allows smoking?

If enough people cared about this, then bars that allowed smoking would be losing so much business they'd have no choice but to ban smoking. The fact is not enough people care about this to have such an effect, so they use the government to force their way. I'd be willing to bet most of the people who bitch about smoking in bars have never been in a bar in their lives.

I'm with Pinko, if it's a bar or somewhere in public where you don't have to go, let 'em smoke. As far as smoking in the work place, it depends on the job. Example; It doesn't make a lot of sense for an asthmatic to get a job bartending at a bar that allows smoking. Now like office buildings, government buildings, hospitals; step outside if you're going to light up.

Hmm. Wasn't too "obvious" to me.
When you promote one of this guy's editorials/opinion pieces as being the shizz (without sarcasm) and then say, "Read the others! They're great!", it's not at all "obvious" that you were being sarcastic.
Were you being sarcastic about the first editorial, then... or do you actually agree with it?

No I put it in as discussion, b/c his views are narrow minded. Look at how he replies to comments. I figured it would be worth some laughs anyways.

edit: also i titled it as 'some ppl...' referring to this person, sorry thought I made it clear

Your new pal LOTL is banned; if you don't quit with the ad-hominems outside of NHB, you will be next.

Welcome, nodeal.

When you say he's narrow-minded, do you mean he doesn't agree with you? Because, if that's the case, compared to general society, you'd be the one who's narrow-minded. Fear of others opinions makes for great totalitarianism. I don't see how he is being narrow-minded, just opinionated. If everyone agreed, we'd be living in 1984.

And by the way, if you have a problem with what he is writing, then reply in the comments section, instead of lurking and then trolling here.

Thanks for reading, by the way!

Hey lefty: Why was LOTL banned?

Mark

Closed thought isn't for me. If I cannot explore every option openly, it means I have already made up my mind. So, why go thru all the work of thinking? Mark

I have no idea. That's something you'd need to speak to the administrators about.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's because he was a formerly banned member who used a proxy IP address to re-join the forum under a new username.
When people are banned, there's always good reason; the admin here is not quick to ban people. They give them tons of chances (the only banning I've ever disagreed with was Pistolero, and even with him, I have to admit he had plenty of chances to quit breaking the forum rules). So, once they're pushed to the point of banning somebody, I doubt they want them to get a proxy IP and pop back up with a new username to pursue old grudges, or whatever.
So, through deductive reasoning, I'd say that the reason LOTL was banned is because he's a troll, in the classical sense of the word. If that word doesn't apply to LOTL/jAK, I can't imagine who it would apply to.
But I don't have any insider information when it comes to the mods' and admins' decisions; I'm just a forum member like you, and I'm not privvy to any information about their decisions or why they make them. I'm just guessing.

I don't think this can be reiterated enough IMO. I frequent quite a few political boards. Some with a mixed bag of political opinions, some conservative, some liberal... and some that were just a "side forum" on a forum by a generic topic... (A political board on a beauty site, or a diet site, or a automobile site etc...)

And without question this board, along with other liberal boards that encourage conservative members ... is the most tolerant and most lenient. ESPECIALLY towards conservative posters.

What question would that be?
As far as I can tell, the only "question" you've asked in this thread is "When you say he's narrow-minded, do you mean he doesn't agree with you?", which was obviously addressed to someone other than me, since I never said he was 'narrow-minded"; nodeal said it.
Not being psychic, no, I can't answer your question.
I don't know why nodeal said that.

jcy123 and nodeal are either the same person or are connected in some way, their ips are matching or similar on an unusual number of occaisions.

The TOS clearly states that 'cloning' will result in immediate banishment.

Budda, LOTL was banned a while ago under another screenname, then chose to rejoin the forum under a "sock puppet." That's not allowed here. When you're banned, you're banned. You can't just jump back into the fray under a different screenname.
